José Miguel Ribeiro was born in 1966 in Amadora, Portugal. He graduated with a degree in Plastic Arts – Painting from ESBAL (Art University of Lisbon) and studied drawing and puppets animation in Lazzenec-Bretagne / Rennes and in Filmógrafo / Oporto in 1993/4.During several years he taught puppets animation in Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.He was animator of “Os Salteadores” directed by Abi Feijó (special pryze of Cartoon D’Or 94) and some other portuguese films and pilots. He was co-director of “O Ovo / The Egg”, which won several international awards; he directed short animations for portuguese version of Sesam’s Street and in 1996 won, for the first time, an award in Cinanima/Portugal with “O Banquete da Rainha”.Between 1997 and 1999, produced by Luís da Matta Almeida/Zeppelin Filmes, he directed “A Suspeita / The Suspect”, film awarded with Cartoon D’Or 2000 and more 25 international awards.In 1999 he directed two short animation films: “Cinanima 99 spot” and “Timor Loro Sae”.In the year 2000 José Miguel was invited to direct the spot for Lisbon Illustration Meeting and two corporate films about the European day without cars in the city of Almada.During 2001 and 2002 he directed in claymation the child series “As Coisas Lá de Casa / Home Things” (26×2’30’') which has had an excellent reception by the international market, has won several awards and has received several prestigious invitations.In 2004, he directed a short film based in a theme from a Portuguese genial musician and composer named Carlos Paredes, entitled “Abraço do Vento”. In 2007 he founds, with Nuno Beato and Eva Yébenes, the production company Sardinha em Lata. Born on the 30th of November of 1973 in the city of Porto, Portugal.He graduated in 1998 in Graphic Design. From 1996 to 2001 he worked at the animation studio Filmógrafo where he attended to several workshops of animation.Since 2000 he works as a professional designer and illustrator.From 2001 till 2005 was the leading Designer in a company specialized in comic books.He is a member of the board of directors of the Casa da Animação, a Cultural centre that promotes Portuguese animation in Portugal and around the world.Melodia Amarga is his first film. Sarah Cox studied Animation at the Royal College of Art graduating in 1992. She has since worked as a director of short films and commercials. This includes most notably REEL TO REEL in 1997 (Winner, Best film under 10 mins British Animation Awards) and PLAIN PLEASURES commissioned by Channel 4 and completed in 2001, winner of a Silver Dove at Leipzig. Her latest film is a 6 minute commission from S4C: HEAVY POCKETS which was nominated for the Short Film BAFTA 2005 and has been screened in festivals worldwide including RUSHES, Onedotzero, Message to Man, MIAF, LIAF, Tricky Women, Clermont Ferrand and Morbegno. She joined Picasso PIctures in 1994 and her directing credits include campaigns for Boots No7 and Avaya Communications as well as individual commercials for Sanatogen, Benadryl and Virgin Megastores. A year was spent as Head of 2D Animation at Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia (1999 - 2000). Further teaching followed at the National Film and TV School UK (2001 - 2003) Exeter University, Bristol University and Newport. She is external examiner for London Met Animation MA and the National School of Film and Television Animation Direction course. Sarah left Picasso Pictures to set up Arthur Cox with Sally Arthur in 2002. Using a combination of live action and animation they have directed sequences for Channel 4 TV special WILDE STORIES as well as commercials for Coca Cola, Dasani mineral water, Nestea, Kelloggs Wheats and All-Bran. She directed Don't let it all Unravel a short knitted film about global warming for S.O.S./Live Earth 07 which was produced through Aardman. John and Karen produced by Sarah Cox and directed by Matthew Walker has won several awards including Best Animation for Adults at Annecy 2007. She is currently producing the animation for a BBC Children's Newsround Special. Sarah is currently directing a short film Take Time - a short film about Bristol using archive footage, as well as developing ArthurCox's series Where's my Dinner? - a 52x7 adventure show with co-director Sally Arthur. Kirk Hendry is a New Zealand-born, London based film maker and writer who works in both live-action and animation.He is represented in the UK by London's award winning animation studio th1ng and in France by Parisian film studio Troublemakers.His latest project was a unique film 'Round' for the BBC Electric Proms which features the exclusive use of hand shadows to tell its story. Kirk brought over an Argentinean magician especially for the project. The film is now being screened at various festivals worldwide.Kirk also produced and directed a number of music videos including a clip for Autoramas, which was nominated for MTV Music Video of the Year.Kirk is currently working on a five minute animated film called 'Junk', a tale about an obsession with junk food and the importance of following your gut instinct. The film includes the involvement of the UK Film Council and the Royal College of Music.
