Animar - Curtas Metragens CRL's Educational Service has been promoting a series of long-term workshops every year as part of its ongoing work with schools in the region, providing students and teachers with contact with various tools in the field of cinema, covering different age groups, from 3 to 18 years old.

At the beginning of February, the second long-term workshop took place at Escola EB 2/3 Cego do Maio (Póvoa de Varzim).

Using archive photographs, slides, moving images and other visual documents, the 8th grade class, under the guidance of the director Tânia Dinis, will slowly manipulate the images to produce intersections and overlaps. Following the inner rhythm of the archive, and using materials such as cellophane paper, magnifying glasses, filters, paints, words, sounds, elements related to the sea, the class will construct small narrative sequences, in an exercise of confronting image with sound, thus exploring the various possibilities of fictional staging.
