Curtas – Educational Service is a project created with the mission of establishing a parallel with Curtas Metragens - CRL 's annual program, introducing younger audiences to the themes of art and cinema.
Curtas Metragens - CRL is a Cultural Production Cooperative that in recent years has supported educational activities in Vila do Conde, neighboring municipalities, and throughout the country.
Objectives and Proposals
Throughout the year, Curtas - Educational Service develops mediation activities between the Cooperative's cultural programming projects and various audiences.
Its main objective is to create a link between the community, exhibitions, and parallel activities, focusing on different languages and forms of artistic expression presented by Solar - Cinematic Art Gallery, Agência – Short Film Agency, and Curtas Vila do Conde - International Film Festival.
She began her studies in acting and has established herself as an actress in both national and international film, theatre, and television projects. Holding a degree in Photography from the School of Media Arts and Design (IPP), she has also completed various continuous training courses and workshops in diverse areas such as photography, scientific writing, and most recently, curating, producing, and designing exhibitions. She has participated in group exhibitions and audiovisual festivals at both national and international levels, showcasing her projects. In addition to her artistic endeavours, she has worked as a photographer and photo editor.
Within the production realm, her experience includes collaboration with a theatre company, a music festival, and currently, she is with Solar - Cinematic Art Gallery.
Graduated in Social Communication from the University of Minho with a specialization in journalism and video, a master's degree in Documentary Cinema, from ESMAD, and a master's degree in Audiovisual Production, from Rome University of Fine Arts.
She was a journalist for almost a decade, having collaborated in various media, from radio to television and the written press. Since 2014, she has also worked in the area of production and scriptwriting, playing an important role in documentary development research.
In the educational field, she is responsible for the educational project "Escola.Cinema.Ação", cinema trainer, and a cinema workshop facilitator. As a freelancer, she works in different areas: copywriting, directing and production. In the audiovisual area, she is producing the docufiction “The Missing Cat”.
Inês Ferreira has a degree in Languages, Literature, and Cultures from the University of Aveiro, having completed her studies at the University of La Rochelle. She graduated in Photography from IPCI - Institute of Cultural Production and Image in Porto, and has participated in several collective photography exhibitions and other projects in the field.
For several years, she tutored children and young people in languages and humanities. She entered the field of cultural production, having been a production assistant in the last three editions of Encontros da Imagem, and responsible for local partnerships at Curtas Metragens – CRL. Currently, she manages the educational service at the same cooperative.
Born in Porto on 19th June 1966. Portuguese nationality. Graduated in Communication Design - Graphic Art from the Porto School of Fine Arts in 1992.
Attended the 2nd year of the Painting Course at the Porto School of Fine Arts in 1986. Founder of the Vila do Conde International Short Film Festival in 1993 and, since then, member of the Board of Directors and the Selection Committee for the International and National Competitions. Programmer of various retrospective and extra-competition sections at Curtas Vila do Conde - International Short Film Festival and in various exhibitions and cycles elsewhere in Portugal and abroad. Representative of the Vila do Conde International Short Film Festival at numerous international festivals in Portugal and abroad.
He currently coordinates the activities of the Agência - Portuguese Short Film Agency, which sells and distributes Portuguese short films. He has produced a number of short films and is currently involved in two new projects, one fiction and the other documentary.
Producer of several films such as: "Semente Exterminadora", by Pedro Neves Marques, "Noite sem distância", by Lois Patino, "Vila do Conde espraiada", by Miguel Clara Vasconcelos, "O milagre de Santo António", by Sergei Loznitsa, "Fernando que ganhou um pássaro do Mar", by Felipe Bragança and Helvécio Marins Jr.He was also co-producer of the series "10 - a series of short films": "Kalkitos", by Miguel Gomes, "Remains", by Sandro Aguilar, "Dieci minuti alla finne", by Danielle Cipri and Franco Maresco, "Beacon", Matthias Mueller and Christoph Girardet.
Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1965, of Portuguese nationality. He graduated from the Porto School of Fine Arts with a Special Cycle in Plastic Arts - Painting. He attended the Master's programme in Multimedia Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto.
He has been a teacher since 1986 and a secondary school teacher since 1992. He also taught at the Escola Superior Artística do Porto, on a trial basis, for one academic year. A film club member since 1981, he founded the Vila do Conde Film Club and remained a member of its management until 1996. He founded the Vila do Conde International Short Film Festival in 1993 and has been a board member ever since. From the outset, he took on responsibilities related to the selection committee for competitions, programming in general, publishing catalogues, graphic design and other organisational aspects of an executive nature. Since April 1997, when he was founded, he has been the director of Curtas Metragens CRL, which, in addition to organising Curtas Vila do Conde, has developed a wide range of programming and cinema activities and other cultural areas.
He was the founder of the Agência — Portuguese Short Film Agency, of which he is still a member of the Executive Board. Founder and co-artistic director of Solar — Cinematic Art Gallery, since March 2005. Curator of the exhibitions by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster (2002), "Revisitations", by Matthias Muller and Christoph Girardet (2005), "Imitations of Life" by Mike Hoolboom (2007) and "T.D.", by João Penalva, at Solar — Galeria de Arte Cinemática. Curator of the exhibition "No Cinema" (2008) at the Memory Centre in Vila do Conde, with works by Tsai Ming-liang, Matthias Müller, Christoph Girardet, Graham Gussin, Sandra Gibson, Luis Recoder, Ariane Michel and Cesário Alves. Co-author of the project Estaleiro - Imagens, Sons e Ideias em Movimento, for programming, production and training in the areas of cinema, visual arts and music, which has been implemented in the northern region since its inception in 2011.
