The competitive sections of My Generation and Curtinhas for the 2nd Turma Curtas - Cinema for Schools, which starts on May 14th, are now closed.
We are excited to announce the new film selections for the My Generation and Curtinhas programs that will be presented at the 2nd Turma Curtas - Cinema for Schools event in Vila do Conde. This cultural event aims to involve educational communities and younger generations in the audiovisual industry. The programs are very diverse and inclusive, representing of the groups involved.
Students and teachers are invited to watch the selection of short films competing in the Curtinhas and My Generation children's sections of the 32nd Curtas Vila do Conde from May 14th to 25th. The 2nd edition of Turma Curtas will showcase more than 25 short films in 4 daily sessions exclusively for schools, taking place at the Vila do Conde Municipal Theatre at different times: 9.45 am; 11 am; 02.45 pm; 04.15 pm. Curtinhas is a mini-festival within Curtas Vila do Conde IFF, an extension of the ANIMar program initiated annually by Solar - Cinematic Art Gallery and the Curtas CRL's Educational Service. It is designed for children and families and includes a film competition, with screenings for ages 3, 6, and 9, a children's area, and various workshops.
My Generation is another mini-festival within the Curtas Vila do Conde IFF, programmed by young teenagers and designed for new audiences. It results from a partnership with four secondary schools in the region and ESMAD - School of Media, Arts and Design (Polytechnic of Porto), based in Vila do Conde. The selection methodology is similar to that of the other competitions, but the committee members are selected from students of the secondary schools and the university. They are also responsible for various organizational aspects like graphic design, film selection, and preparing texts and synopses. The My Generation posters made by ESMAD students are on display at the curating schools (Secondary School Rocha Peixoto, Secundary School Eça Queirós, Secundary School José Régio and Secundary School D. Afonso Sanches) until 30 April. Afonso Sanches High School) until April 30th, and later, from May 14th to 31st, at the Municipal Theatre, during Turma Curtas.
Turma Curtas will have its closing ceremony on May 25th at the Municipal Theatre, where the films made as part of the long-term workshops promoted by the Educational Service in the region's schools will be screened. The sections will have a second presentation during the 32nd Curtas Vila do Conde, which will run from July 12th to 21st.
