ANIMar for Schools: Sea Shorts

In this 19th edition, in addition to the special sessions open to the public, the Curtas Metragens CRL Education Service has planned a series of sessions and workshops especially aimed at school audiences, adapted to different age groups. These sessions and workshops are by appointment only and can take place at the school or at the Municipal Theatre.

THE SEA AT THE VILLAGE

SHIP CAXINETA

4th year students, under the guidance of Vasco Sá and David Doutel

Here comes the Caxineta ship, which has a lot to tell. It's been a year and a day on the waves at sea. A film by 4th grade students from Escola EB das Caxinas, Vila do Conde, based on a free adaptation of the book "A Nau Mentireta" by Luisa Ducla Soares.


DODU – THE CARDBOARD BOY

A cardboard boy. A cardboard box. A make-believe cardboard boy in a cardboard box. Dodu, the cardboard boy, is very sensitive and lives in a city that is hostile to children. That's why he spends many hours indoors, playing with Carica, his ladybird friend. Whenever Dodu scratches the surface of the cardboard box, he creates marvellous worlds inhabited by unusual creatures that help him deal with his emotions and grow up.


THE EYES OF THE LIGHTHOUSE

On a rocky island exposed to the elements, a lighthouse keeper lives in isolation with his daughter. From the top of his tower, the father rigorously watches the horizon and the safety of passing boats. With no other company, the girl develops a unique complicity with the sea, which brings her toys in the form of objects that wash up on the shore. To the rhythm of the waves, these objects reveal old events, memories that the tides can't erase...

 

SAILOR DOGS

When a couple of dogs have a sailor to guard their garden, they must keep him at all costs. It is therefore necessary to flee the proximity of the sea and suffer the consequences. And life must go on.

COMPASS

6th grade students, under the guidance of Joana Nogueira and Patrícia Rodrigues

Caxinas is a land of cod fishermen, where the life of the sea is fiercely lived and the horizon is a constant presence, both for those who leave and for those who stay. Interviews with former boatmen were the starting point for the film. The horizon line guided the children's gaze in creating the animations that bring the cod fishermen's stories to life, thus creating an intergenerational relationship.

PENUMBRIA

Eduardo Brito

Penumbria, the dystopian, was founded two hundred years ago at a difficult-to-access extreme. With arid soils, angry seas and a violent climate, it owed its name to the almost permanent shadow cast by a mountain to the south. Until one day, its inhabitants decided to leave it to time. This is the story of an uninhabitable place.


NORTH ATLANTIC

An air traffic controller on a small island in the Azores comes into contact with a lone pilot, lost over the Atlantic.
